St James Estate

St James Estate was built in the 1990’s, in the Perth Cultural and Entertainment hub of Northbridge, which includes the Western Australian Art Gallery, the State Museum and Library, the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (PICA), the currently under construction Heath Ledger Theatre of Performing Arts, nightclubs, restaurants, cafes and an eclectic assortment of purveyors of fine foods from around the globe.

The Estate comprises a full city block of approximately 2 ha within easy walking distance of the central business district and bounded by James, Shenton, John and Fitzgerald Streets.

This smart urban infill project became an icon of inner city living for not only the developers of the project the Fini Group but also many an upwardly mobile ‘Perthite’.

It’s easy to understand its popularity, firstly the Estate comprises of some 210 mixed residential and commercial properties, including homes, townhouses, studios, apartments, a hotel and commercial shops, able to cater to every need but secondly, it is designed and constructed from 20 individualised buildings to suite every taste.

The architectural style of each building is different, ranging from Georgian Revival, Victorian Filigree and Free-Style Federation to Nostalgic-Modern Contemporary and International Modern Styles. Together they create an eclectic cosmopolitan landscape in miniature and outside ones door.

St James Estate has won numerous awards over the years but undoubtedly its greatest achievement was, being named the International millennium year winner of the FIABCI Prix D'Excellence Award in the Residential Category.
